After spending a night in the 400 year-old Ivy Cottage, we woke up to an overcast day with temperatures in the mid teens.
I think the 'old couple' who run the guesthouse may in fact be younger than us. ouch!
It's Sunday and the river is a lot more crowded, all manner of water sports being in evidence.
There was also a bigger boat complete with a jazz band going down the river, music blaring.
The path ranges from bitumen to leaf-covered paths (very springy underfoot). The direction markers are good, keeping us on the straight and narrow.
The river itself and the trees around it paint quite an attractive picture. There are even trees big and shady enough for us to have a bit of a rest! along the way!
Marg added up the distances traveled over the last 10 days. According to our reckoning we have covered 209 km but according to the map it adds up to 177 km. Planned and unplanned detours you know. In either case, we are past the half-way point. so it's all downhill from now on - we are both quite pleased with ourselves.
Another day tomorrow. No 'free day' for a few days yet. Keep your fingers crossed!
Cheers
