Day Zero

Tomorrow the walk [or THE WALK] starts - where and when it ends ...

This year I turned 70 & Marg 65. In other words, we have accumulated 135 years of experience doing slightly silly things. Tomorrow we start our walk from the Source of the Thames (near Kemble), planning/hoping to finish at the Thames Barrier about 300km away. A bit more than 20 days of walking should get us there, if we are still alive by then. At least it's all down hill (unless gravity doesn't work the same way in England).

This is my first blog. I am now a blogger (but I have been called worse).

We are in Cirencester, a pretty little town a few kilometres from the starting point of the walk. It's considered to be the capital of the Cotswolds and is built on the 75 AD Roman town of Corinium. Remnants of the ancient Roman city wall is still there but the current building only date back to the 14th Century. We arrived here yesterday to spend a day here before starting on the walk. Good decision! Pix of a bit of the Roman Wall, Parish Church of St. John the Baptist and a street are below.

I plan to post our progress daily. Please take this as my intention rather than a promise!
I may have to echo the chap who underexposed his photographs of ghosts said 'the Spirit was willing but the flash was weak!' or something similar.

Cheers!
