Day 18

Lucky that we weren't walking today. It was raining, cold and miserable (walk would have been unbearable). As the forecast said the rain was to clear by 1.00 pm we stayed indoors the whole morning (heated room, comfortable bed...), postponing the Hampton Court visit till the afternoon. Here is the difference between at the start and end of the visit.

This Henry VIII palace gives a good historical account of the period - some actors even bring important characters to life at intervals.

Special features include a Christopher Wren designed staircase.

The kitchens are worth a look too - they did like their food!

King's dining room even has place mats with instructions...

The gardens are vast and well maintained.

After all the non-walking, we returned to our room (another walk tomorrow) to
a nice sunset through the window. It looks as tomorrow is going to be a better day for walking.

Cheers!
