Day 15
Blogging is easy when you haven't done much - must be like the diary of some politicians. It rained for the first time this morning where we had to go out in the rain. Just a drizzle but a pain nevertheless. The pictures are a bit dark because of it.
Our guest house is only 10 minutes from the Windsor Castle. Here is a picture of part of the castle, the statue of Queen Victoria, and our guest house (for comparison - my statue was not ready)
Christopher Wren (1632-1723) lived here and designed some buildings here. The one below is where the city fathers thought it unsafe and asked him to have more pillars to support the next floor. So he gave them pillars (pity they didn't quite reach the next floor; there is a one inch gap between the top of the pillar and the floor above - well done Chris!).
Next to it is the Crooked House [it's easy to understand why it was called that]
Saw a bit of the 'changing of the guards' - new shift coming in and the old shift leaving. Well dressed though.
Went to Evensong at St George's Chapel in the castle this evening - good singing and amazingly ornate chapel. No pictures inside.
Tomorrow it's back to walking - 17 km to do. On the bright side, what remains to walk is getting shorter and shorter (just like our legs).
Cheers
