Day 14
Today the walk was a bit different. Yesterday's walk finished at Dorney Court, close to Eton's lake where the Olympic rowing events were held. As there were no suitable places to stay there, we caught a taxi to Windsor. This morning, the same taxi took us to Dorney Court so we could walk back to Windsor - mad dogs and Englishmen...
The walk itself was short - less than 10 km. Hence the early start to blogging and the shorter blog.
Thames Path still hugs the river and despite the increase in the number houses along the river, there is still plenty of bush around. The ivy-covered woodland is quite striking. Autumn leaves haven't started colouring the landscape yet.
Not a lot to say about the river - wider, more boats... (but being mid-week, you see less people on and around the water).
As you enter Windsor, the castle is hard to miss! As you can see from the flag, the Queen is in residence (no invitation to dinner for us, as yet).
Windsor is the biggest town so far since the start of our walk. Looking forward to walking around town tomorrow as it's a non-walking day (and shorter blog).
I understand Princess Eugenie (Prince Andrew's daughter, apparently), is getting married at the castle next month. We are not invited so we won't stay.
Plan to rest our poor feet tomorrow - still clock a few kms I fancy.
Cheers
